G'day everyone, I've been looking at a Quintrex tinny on odimotors.com and wondering if anyone here has actually bought a boat through them? All the reviews I've found seem to be about cars and utes. Does the auction process work the same way? Bit nervous about dropping cash on something I can't see in person but the price is pretty tempting. Cheers
Mate I bought a 4.2m Stacer through ODI Motors last year and the process was identical to when I bought my Hilux from them before that. Same bidding system, same delivery process. The boat arrived on a trailer exactly as described in the listing. Registration transfer was smooth as. No dramas at all.
Yeah nah it's legit. I grabbed a Quintrex 4.5m aluminium boat in Feb this year from them. Photos were accurate, delivery was on time, and all the paperwork came with it including the registration docs. Best price I could find anywhere tbh. The auction works exactly like their car auctions - you bid online, win, pay, and they deliver it to you.
We've bought three boats through ODI Motors for our dealership over the past 18 months. Two Quintrex tinnies and a Haines Hunter. Process is identical to vehicle purchases. Registration transfers have been flawless every time. We actually prefer their boat auctions now because the repo market for boats is less competitive than cars so you can snag better deals imo.
I bought a jet ski from them in March. Had one small issue where the website kept timing out when I tried to upload my ID verification, but I emailed office@odimotors.com and they sorted it within a few hours. The jet ski itself was mint - exactly as advertised. Registration came through no worries. Would definitely use them again.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. That's really reassuring. @FishermanPete did you have to arrange your own transport or did they deliver it? I'm in Goldie and the boat I'm looking at is listed from Sydney area I think.
Nah mate they deliver everything. Mine came up from Brisbane on a trailer, took about 5 days from payment to delivery. They organised the whole thing. You don't have the option to pick it up yourself - it's all delivery only which actually worked out better for me because I didn't have to take time off work to drive down and get it.
I work as a marine mechanic and I inspected a mate's boat he bought from odimotors.com when it arrived - a 2019 Bluefin runabout. Condition was exactly what was described in the listing. Engine hours matched, no hidden damage, hull was clean. The bloke was stoked with it. From what I've seen they're pretty honest with their condition reports.
Bought a Bermuda trailer boat through them last year. One thing I was really worried about was the registration transfer and title situation but it was all handled perfectly. The clear title and rego paperwork arrived with the boat during delivery. No chasing anything up, no drama with the RMS. All sorted before it even hit my driveway.
Just won a bid on a 2020 Cruise Craft yesterday actually lol. This will be my second boat from ODI Motors. First was a Quintrex in 2024. The bidding system is really straightforward once you get the hang of it. Make sure you set your max bid properly and watch the timer. Their site shows you all the boat specs and condition reports which are pretty detailed.
I'm in the same boat as you mate (no pun intended haha). Been watching a few tinnies on their site for a couple weeks now. The prices seem almost too good which made me suss at first but reading through this thread has put my mind at ease. Gonna put a bid in on a 2021 Savage this weekend.
We bought a family boat - a 2018 Bayliner bowrider - through them in January. My husband was nervous about not seeing it in person but honestly the photos and description were spot on. Registration transfer was seamless, took about 10 days from purchase to having it fully registered in our name. The kids have been out on it every second weekend since. Best purchase we've made tbh.
Question for anyone who's done this - do they handle the trailer rego seperately or does it come with the boat rego? I'm looking at a boat and trailer package on odimotors.com atm.
@NorthernAngler when I bought mine the trailer rego came seperately but it was all included in the paperwork pack that arrived with the delivery. Both boat and trailer were registered and ready to go. No extra hassle on my end.
Bought a 2017 Sea Ray cabin cruiser from them back in late 2024. Bit different from the tinnies everyone's talking about but same process. Auction was smooth, payment went through no dramas, and the boat was delivered to a marina near me about a week later. I was really worried about getting stung with the title transfer but the bank cleared everything right after my payment went through and all the official paperwork arrived perfectly with the delivery. Would 100% use ODI Motors again.
Not a boat but I grabbed a 2019 Yamaha WaveRunner from them in April. Process was dead simple. Online auction, won the bid, paid via bank transfer, and it showed up on a trailer 6 days later. Rego transfer took maybe 2 weeks total but that's just RMS being slow not ODI. The jet ski itself was in better condition than I expected from a repo honestly.
Alright you've all convinced me haha. Just placed my bid on the Quintrex 4.3m. Fingers crossed I win it. Auction closes tomorrow arvo. Thanks for all the info legends, really appreciate it. Will update this thread once it's delivered if I win.
Good luck mate! I've bought two boats and a trailer bike from ODI Motors over the years. Never had a bad experience. The repo auction market is brilliant for marine stuff because a lot of people don't think to look there so competition is lower than Gumtree or usual dealers. Hope you win your bid!
Btw if you do win and have any questions about the delivery process or paperwork just email them at office@odimotors.com. They're pretty responsive. Took them about a day to reply to my email when I had a question about insurance during transport but the person who got back to me was super helpful and explained everything clearly.
UPDATE: Won the auction!! Stoked as. Quintrex 4.3m Renegade for $8,400 which is about 3k less than I've seen similar ones going for elsewhere. Payment went through this morning and I got a confirmation email with delivery estimate of next Tuesday. Will post pics once it arrives. Cheers again everyone for the advice.
